Lunatic Man Caught With 27 Sims Cards In Epe Lagos

Men of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps have arrested one Godwin, allegedly posing as a lunatic, for having 27 SIM cards.
In a statement released, the agency stated that the suspect was arrested following several complaints from residents of Epe who noticed his suspicious movement.
The residents alleged that the suspect had been spotted several times taking refuge in an abandoned building near the T-junction in Epe.
They claimed they saw him changing his clothes each morning and frequently engaging in late-night phone conversations.
Acting on the tip-off, the operatives of the Epe command, during a routine patrol on Monday, found the suspect temporarily absent from his usual spot and decided to search the security post where the SIM cards were discovered.
“On May 5, during a routine patrol, officers were informed by residents that the suspect was temporarily absent from the area. Acting swiftly, the patrol team searched the structure and discovered 27 registered SIM cards concealed within a section of a block wall.
Officers were immediately dispatched, and Mr Godwin was arrested shortly after his return to the location. During interrogation, he confirmed his identity and background but declined to reveal the location of any mobile phones linked to the SIM cards,” the statement partly read.
The statement added that a local food vendor corroborated reports of the suspect’s strange behaviour, noting that he often appeared mentally sound despite his erratic lifestyle.
The Lunatic has since been handed over to the police. The state police command, however, dismissed claims that the suspect may be a kidnapper, as no evidence to back up the claim has been found yet. The command says further investigation is being carried out.

Police Stray Bullet Kills Teenager On His Way to Write WASSCE

The Oyo State Government has new revelations as regards the death of the teen boy killed by a Police stray bullet.
Recent reports alleges that the father of the student who died while on his way to sit for a West African Senior School Certificate Examination along the Alakia Road in Ibadan, the state capital, was driving against traffic when the cop fired a shot at the vehicle’s tyre, which accidentally hit and killed the boy.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Special Adviser to the Oyo State Governor on Media, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, on Tuesday.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the student was heading to the examination centre to sit for the ongoing WASSCE organised by the West African Examination Council in Ibadan, the state capital, when the incident happened.
Multiple sources claimed that a stray bullet allegedly fired by a police officer in pursuit of a suspect killed the student.
One of the sources, simply identified as Ajani, said,
“A police officer opened fire while chasing a fleeing vehicle. One of the bullets reportedly hit the student. The student was riding on a motorcycle with his father and twin brother.
“The victim was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.”
Another witness said, “The deceased was on his way to the examination centre alongside his twin brother when the tragedy happened.”
Following the incident, irate youths took the student’s lifeless body to the state Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, to demand justice and called on Governor Seyi Makinde to intervene. The deceased’s body was subsequently deposited at the Adeoyo Hospital morgue.
Explaining the circumstances behind the incident, Olanrewaju noted that the police team, alongside members of the Oyo State Road Traffic Maintenance Authority, were conducting a routine enforcement when they encountered the man driving against traffic.
He noted that in an attempt to evade arrest for driving against traffic, he was accosted by the officers, and one of the officers shot at the vehicle’s tyre, but the shot missed the target and hit the student.
